MA - master's programme
The MA
During the master's programme, our students have four semesters in which, as recent graduates, they can expand their professional networks before committing to a job or institution. Students who are already employed can update and broaden their professional knowledge and rethink the direction their career is heading in career strategy while working part-time.
Our master's programme provides our students with an opportunity to use the general knowledge and orientation skills acquired through their BA in the most effective way, to build their own professional specialisation that matches their preferences, and to develop their own research areas.
All this in an environment:
- that is friendly and familiar from the years of undergraduate study at the university;
- where everyone works on what our students have been interested in for years;
- where, as colleagues in the field of study, they can feel free to talk to the students, doctoral students, doctoral teaching staff and the nationally renowned leading experts invited as guest speakers; because they are all here, they participate in the master's programme and support the professional career of the master's students at a higher level.
Doing a master's is an important decision for all graduates.
Our students can find a job with a BA, but completing the four semesters master's course significantly increases the chances that the students’ talent will be recognised and acknowledged in the profession and the academic field, so they can start their professional career with greater prospects, work in a senior position and achieve success.
After obtaining a master's, our students can enrol in the doctoral course (PhD) at our institute, which is the only way to obtain a PhD in our academic field in the country.
The doctoral programme is also a unique opportunity for master’s students: they can gain insights into the latest research in public debates and discussions, and meet future doctoral candidates in the field as lecturers.
There is a great need for professionals with a master's in the field of Library and Information Science, and the librarian profession offers highly valuable and innovative career opportunities in the private sector as experts, developers and researchers. Professionals with a master's also often have opportunities to take on leadership roles within institutions.
